About the Role
A highly reputable Brisbane law firm seeks a full-time Legal Secretary / Personal Assistant to join their team. This role is ideally suited to law students who have decided to study part-time for the remainder of their degree. This opportunity will see you gain solid working experience, while further developing personally and professionally.

This role will see you working in Commercial Litigation & Professional Indemnity, while supporting a leading Partner and talented Senior Lawyers.

About the Partner and Team
This Partner is a highly sought after Brisbane based legal practitioner, with over 25 years experience in Commercial and Insurance Litigation. He offers a wealth of experience and would be able to guide you early on in your career. With his outgoing personality and open door policy, the team work closely with him to achieve successful outcomes for his clients. They too share Friday afternoon drinks and social activities throughout the year!

Key Responsibilities: (Training provided)

  • Diary Management to Partner to keep his day running smoothly
  • Answering phones in a professional and friendly manner
  • Providing secretarial assistance to Senior Lawyers
  • Legal Research
  • WP amendments
  • Dictaphone typing
  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Trust accounting - receipting and reconciliations
  • Maintaining an organised document management system
  • Typing of dictation and preparation of documents and correspondence
  • File management - file opening, closing and archiving
  • Compiling briefs (electronic and/or paper)
  • Performing any necessary searches i.e. company searches
  • Liaising with clients and other parties
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required - coffee runs, boardroom upkeep etc

About You

  • Studying a Bachelor of Laws Degree or similar (part-time)
  • Experience in a law firm or similar professional office environment
  • Confident, organised, resilient and energetic
  • Confidence to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility, adaptability and reliability at all times
  • The ability to perform well autonomously and as part of a team
  • A thorough, attentive and methodical approach to work.
